In a world gripped by organized crime, family dysfunction, and dim hopes of redemption, can true love persevere? For Sophie Taylor, a beautiful psychologist who lost everything when she violated an ethical boundary, and Grant Madsen, a handsome naval officer who sacrificed everything to protect a loved one, finding that love may carry an unbearable cost.

Starting their lives over in Chicago, both are fighting influences from their family and running as fast as they can to escape the past. When their paths cross outside the parole officer’s door, the attraction is instantaneous. But a hidden connection may not only shatter their fledgling love, but prove deadly to them both.

I don’t read a lot of contemporary romance and never read one with a heroine who is a parolee. But this book didn’t disappoint me. With Good Behavior is a fast-paced, action-rich and heart-wrenching romance with adorable main characters.

Sophie and Grant both did stupid things in the past and paid hard for it, but they aren’t bad people. I especially fell for Grant. He has such a sweet character, caring, loveable and super-hot. And he is “blessed” with a Mafia family. Though he doesn’t want to do anything with the family business he is still a very loyal person. And that’s not always an advantage for him. McSailor (that’s Grant’s nickname, how cute is this?) helps Sophie find a new job without knowing that their lives are already intertwined.

Sophie is intelligent and sweet woman who made some terrible choices in her life. She is trying to build a new life and to prove that she is a valuable person. She is caring a lot of emotional ballast. She doesn’t really believe in herself and easily blames herself for everything. I liked how Sophie and McSailor both helped each other to accept themselves more. Their romance was so heart-moving. Both were disappointed by their families and I liked hHow they opened up to each other.

The plot was quite interesting, unpredictable and packed with action. There are every emotional parts which make you almost weep. I also liked that the ending offers closure. This is the first book in a series. So that’s not self-evident and much appreciated. Though I will pick up the second book in the series for sure. I just want to know about McSailor and Sophie and their daily, sometimes ridiculous struggles.

Why I want to read this book? I like what I’m hearing about the h/h characters, their backgrounds, the plot, the secondary characters, and the author’s personal experience coming into play. Convicts, therapy, the mafia, family ties gone wrong- what’s not to intrigue?

Thanks for the review and for the giveaway opportunity.

Thank you for participating!

That’s what I love about writers like Jennifer! They don’t settle for traditional characters. She gives her heroine depth and substance.

I just loved your review, Nimue. I’m thrilled you thought the McSailor nickname was cute! Much better than Clyde from Bonnie & Clyde, anyway.

“I liked how Sophie and McSailor both helped each other to accept themselves more.”

Great observation. They’ve both been through hell but they had to go through that to understand each other on such a deep level.

Thanks so much for being part of the tour and for the lovely review!

The author is new to me and I like the insight of an ex-con adjusting to life outside of it.

I think this series sounds great and I’ve never read a book that included the mafia. The plot sounds amazing and I have a feeling I will really enjoy these books

This series sounds exactly like something I would enjoy. It seems to have a little of everything
