Do you love book covers? I do, a lot. As a European book blogger I stumble all the time over different national book covers for the same book. I was and am still very much fascinated by this and therefore created this feature where international book covers are presented and compared to each other.

Moira Young’s dystopian novel Blood Red Road was published last year for the first time and there already plenty of countries where the book is available as well. I haven’t read the book but it’s on my TBR pile. Hopefully I can read it soon. Very often the design of a book differs only slighty in the international editions. Blood Red Road instead offers a huge variety of covers and most of them are quite pretty. I think my favourite is the new S edition. The colour combinde with the female silhouette is just awesome. In addition I like the design of the Dutch edition, but hte colouring doesn’t work for me. The Bulgarian cover doesn’t do anything for me. It’s too plain and the font is terrible.

Original US – new edition US – Original UK

Italy – Sweden – Serbia

Netherlands – Germany – Bulgaria

What’s your favourite Blood Red Road cover and why?

I just brought the US one so it is really cool to see all of the different covers. I like the Netherland only second to the American. Thanks for sharing. So cool!

Sweden’s definitely grabs my attention, but I think Serbia’s is the best, since the only character I liked was the crow. :P

I was wondering about the crow. So it’s part of the story?

I’m a sucker for the new US edition cover. It’s all the reds, oranges, and darker shades. My brain just goes ohhhh pretty, and I’m in love :D

Well phrased! It’s the same for me. It’s just freaking perfect.

I have read some chapters of this book. unfortunately I can’t finish it since the galley is expired. I wish I can buy it this year.
I wonder if the publisher in Indonesia will buy the rights and translate this book.

Just by looking at the book cover, I can say that these books are really interesting. I wonder what are the stories all about. :)
