This meme is hosted by the peeps @ The Broke and the Bookish, which are officially fond of lists. Every Tuesday they post a new Top Ten List on something bookish and want other people to join in with their lists. And, of course, they also do have a list of all past Top Ten Tuesdays and the ones that are coming up soon.
This week’s topic:
Top Ten All Time Favourite Characters In Books

1. Claire and Jamie – Outlander - Diana Gabaldon
Jamie and Claire are the perfect couple. And I don’t mean everything is just perfect. They fight, they argue, they are wounded, separated, but in the end they share such a deep love for each other that I’m awed again and again and again.

2. Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley and all the other unforgettable characters from the HP books – JK Rowling
Of course Harry Potter and his friends can’t be missing on this list. Over the years they became kind of my friends, they are almost part of the family and I’m still listening to or reading their adventures, over and over.
3. Aragorn – Lord of the Rings – J.R.R. Tolkien
He is the prototype of a perfect hero. He fights hard, doesn’t want any recognition, is pretty noble and most importantly sexy. Even 15 years after I read the Lord of the Rings for the first time, Aragorn still ranks high on my personal character charts. He is just too good to be true (unfortunately this is literally true too.)

4. Morgaine – The Mists of Avalon – Marion Zimmer Bradley
I fell in love with this book ages ago (~16 years) and especially Morgaine doesn’t let me go. She has a very difficult life without a lot of choices. She is strong for her family and always tries to do best for everyone. She suffers enormously and still doesn’t really give up. Marion Zimmer-Bradley created an awesome portrait of the classical character from the Arthur saga.
5. Rose Hathaway and Dimitri Belikov – Vampire Academy – Richelle Mead
How can I not include fierce Rose and noble Dimitri. Though I found to them only during the last year, I have re-read their story already several times. Each of them is on her/his own strong and impressive. but together they are just plain amazing and I love reading about their interactions. I hope both of them will show up together in the spin-off series Bloodlines.
6. Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark - Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins
Most people won’t feature Katniss in their lists, I’m rather sure of this. Katniss may not be the perfect heroine but to me she is an awesome and strong character. She is a fighter and a winner and her interactions with Peeta are bittersweet most of the time. Peeta on the other hand is almost to good to be true and with this goodness he impresses me all the time. Together they form an unbreakable unit I love.
7. Eve Dallas – In Death series – J.D. Robb
I’m following Eve Dallas’s story throughout all the 30+ books and the more I read about her the more I adore her. She is a complicated woman with an unlimited passion to fight for the death. And her private story is heart-breaking as well.

I’ve only read Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, a half of Fellowship of the Ring from your list. Harry, Ron, and Hermione as well as Katniss and Peeta would make my list too. I’m not sure about Aragorn, though. I only know of him (in book form) as Strider so far, but he’s still pretty cool as Strider too.

OooOo Jamie and Claire – how much I love and adore them! I think I read the first 4 books in this series 5 times, if not more? Their love it epic and Jamie was one of my first fictional crushes ever:)

To me the first 4 books are the best anyway. Afterwards the story gets tedious and I can’t really imagine people in their mid-50s fighting and running and so on like hey do in the later books (does this sound discriminating?). But the first few are just yummy.

I didn’t like to choose a favourite from Harry Potter- all the characters are so brilliant! Katniss and Peeta are awesome- love them together!

Wouldn’t it be interesting to put all these characters together in one book?!

That’s an interesting thought. Not sure though if this would work. Or can you imagine a highland worrior from the 17th century together with Peeta and Katniss from a dystopian future?

Love your list, I am a big fan of Jamie & Claire and I loved the book The Mists of Avalon!

Yeah to The Mists of Avalon. Not a lot of people seem to know the book and it’s so good.

It was so hard to pick an HP character for my list, but I did it. I adore Jamie, Claire, Rose, Dimitri, Katniss, Peeta, and Eve as well.

You’re right, I considered Katniss then decided to stick with just Peeta. I don’t MIND Katniss, I just have a lot of problems with her, LOL. :D It was hard picking a HP character too, but I settled on Sirius because I’m in love with him. LOL.

Yes, Peeta is a sweetheart and absolutely nothing about him is annoying. And though Katniss is a bit difficult I still like her.
Sirius us great pick. He is so cool and loveable.

Oh, Claire and Jamie, Yes!! Forgot them.
I wanted to include someone from Harry Potter but couldn’t pick one! Good idea to put several in as a group (for me it would have been pretty much the entire cast!)
A friend gave me The Mists of Avalon for my birthday when I was a teenager, but I could never get into it. I’d always written it off as a book I’d never like, but maybe one day I’ll go back and try again – might have more luck with it as an adult.
Here’s my top ten list.

I would never be able to pick my favourite Harry Potter characters (through I have a soft spot for Sirius), they are all so dear to me by now.
You should give the Nists of Avalon another chance. It’s one of my favourite books. I know it’s pretty thick (which I love), but the story is so captivating and the characters so clearly described and lively, it’s just awesome!
Oh really? The captcha isn’t working properly? I have to have a look at it. Sorry about the trouble and thanks for making the effort :)

Nice choices! I picked Morgaine and Katniss too! I didn’t choose Lord of the Rings though…it slipped my mind. I would have chosen Sam.
